Goodbye, Dr. Dyer

Do you have anyone in your life that can be credited as the catalyst for changing that way you think? Dr. Wayne Dyer was one of the very first spiritual mentors that I turned to when I was going through struggles to remain positive. A few years back I was struggling with infertility, going through a highly stressful family court case, dealing with a rocky marriage and navigating some rough waters with a pre-teen. I remember thinking, "Is this life? Is this what I have to look forward to every day? I know there is more and I KNOW that I can have it. But how do I get there?" His book 'Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life' started a cycle by which my life would be lifted out of that mediocrity, stress and unfulfillment. I will be forever grateful for this man's wisdom.

This morning, before I heard of Dr. Dyer's passing, I was looking through my recorded list of programs on my TV and saw a Super Soul Sunday episode (Oprah Winfrey hosts it) that was marked as unread and it happened to be an interview of Dr. Dyer. I don't think that was a coincidence. I saw it as a reminder to always live my life by what this beautiful person has taught me. I believe everyone's energy goes on forever. This, in large part, is due to Dr. Dyer's teachings.

"Eternity is now, right now, right here. You're an infinite being. Once you get past the fear of death as an end, you merge with the infinite and feel the comfort and relief that this realization brings." ~Dr. Wayne Dyer
