Show me someone with a truly happy life and I'll show you someone with a happy mindset. A positive mindset is the foundation of a happy life, plain and simple.

If you're one of those people who are naturally positive, kudos to you! You're in the minority. Many people live their lives in a state of negativity by default. t's because for most, it takes a lot of practice, hard work and discipline to maintain a positive mindset.

I like to compare it to exercising your physical body. If you want to be fit, you'll need to exercise on a regular basis. Your mindset is like a muscle. It takes daily activity attention to  and  and You can't feed yourself "positivity fuel" randomly or every once in a while and expect your mind to stay fit. There are a myriad of habits to incorporate in your life to give yourself positivity fuel on a daily basis. Which brings me to the subject at hand:

Essential Oils & Aromatherapy. 

Does it work? Is it just a placebo? Is it my mind playing tricks on me? 

Can essential oils really help me out, emotionally?

The answer to all of these questions is YES! Check out this article on pubmed.gov about a study that was done on essential oils and depression.

Our sense of smell is powerful! Did you know that it’s our most sensitive sense? We can remember smells with a 65% accuracy after a year while visual recollection is at around 50% after 3 months. This sense is closely linked to our emotions. When we smell something, that scent hits the olfactory bulb which starts inside the nose and runs the along the bottom of the brain. The olfactory bulb connects with the amygdala and hippocampus which is directly linked to emotion and memory. Think about a smell that brings you back to your childhood. That’s how powerful it is! If your brain can transport you back in time just from simply smelling something you smelled decades ago, think of what it can do for your emotions when used intentionally.

Did you know that large companies trigger your emotions by using scent? Go into any major casino And you’ll notice it has its own signature scent. These smells they choose are not random. In fact, they pay big bucks for scent marketing companies to create their signature scent to get you to stay longer and play longer (and spend more money!).

Changing my perspective can literally be as easy as taking a cap off of a bottle and inhaling the scent from the bottle. Have you ever really needed to clear your mind and the only way you could accomplish that was to go out into nature? What does a walk in the forest (with the scent of coniferous trees) or on the beach (with all the wonderful beachy scents)  do for your mental state? You know it’s powerful. Getting out into nature is one of the very best ways to release negativity and refresh your outlook.

We are SO lucky to be able to have nature in a bottle in the form of essential oils. These little brown bottles are more than just pretty perfume. They are a plant’s essence, steam distilled or cold pressed, ready to be used for our benefit. They have studies and science behind why the unique compounds and constituents found in every essential oil can change the chemistry of our body to bring us to a healthier state.

They work on a cellular level; they help our cells to reprogram and reproduce as healthily as they possibly can. They have provided my family a tool to reach for when desperately needed, another option than chemical prescription pills, and peace of mind.
